A British company recently bought a pumpkin seed at an auction for 1,250 ($11,553.5).

The seed comes from the latest world record winner, a giant Swiss pumpkin weighing 2323 pounds (1054 kilograms), which looks as big as three or four ordinary pumpkin seeds combined.

Thompson Morgan, which took the seed, said that although it looked valuable, getting it was like winning the Red Rum Race as a stallion, hoping to give Britain a chance to win the World Pumpkin Championship.

The company is currently looking for experienced growers to cultivate the pumpkin seed, which is said to require 680 litres of water a day during its peak growth period.
